Schreiber (sbs) From the beautiful South-Serbian town of Niš - one of my favorite ones in South-East Europe - comes this band with its quite idiosycratic blend of jazz and post-rock, yielding a unique contribution to the fusion genre. Mainly based on Dejan Ilijić's terrific piano chords, the tunes on this album incorporate extensive post-rock textures, as well as odd time signatures typical for Balkan folk music. Favorite track: Druids.

Dr. Beaf Best described as an energetic and powerful fusion of diverse musical influences (jazz, classical and art-rock). These guys are great, and this album is spectacular. 'Wounding with intent' charges filed against Ed and Roy, again. Favorite track: New Passover.

Deidre House This is just crazy good. A Serbian jazz quartet with a progressive sensibility. The future of jazz, or so I hope. Thanks again, Ed! Favorite track: Blessing.
